Gardens
A garden installation and collection
Weather Gardens is a space for collecting animals and
vegetables from different climatic eras and zones.
These gardens recreate past climactic conditions that
are knowable through ice core data. From the “Little
Ice Age,” when Frost Fairs were regularly held
on the Thames, to the warm-weather Jurassic reptiles
roaming the countryside and munching on leafy ferns,
the planet has experienced the effects of a vast range
of climatic conditions.
This
garden space will link to dynamic weather events installed
in real time and space: a cold and hot capsule of seasons,
replicas of extinct animals-to-be, plantings from seeds
saved by allotment gardeners, mutant versions of vegetables
past, and sounds of extreme weather. |
